HOT 4K NEWS

THE HIGHLY anticipated Peter Jackson trilogies “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” will be released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on December 1.

Jackson supervised the 4K scan of the Super 35 film negatives for “Rings.” A good guess the FX scenes will continue to be in 2K. The HDR toning will include HDR10 and Dolby Vision and the audio received an upgraded to Dolby Atmos.

“The Hobbit” was captured on Redcode RAW (5K) and originally mastered in 2K. We’ll see if it also gets a 4K remaster.

Plus, in 2021, the 4K Ultra HD “Middle-earth” Ultimate Collectors’ Edition featuring the theatrical and extended versions of all six films, along with new bonus content, previously released Blu-ray discs of The Hobbit Trilogy, and remastered Blu-ray discs of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy will be released in the summer of 2021.
