OFFICIAL: Academy Award winner “Terms of Endearment” gets a 40th Anniversary 4K remaster – 11/14

TO CELEBRATE the 40th Anniversary of James L. Brooks’ five Academy Award winner “Terms of Endearment,” Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing the 4K Ultra HD edition along with a Blu-ray and digital copy – part of the Paramount Present series on November 14. The film won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director (Brooks), Best Actress (Shirley MacLaine), Best Supporting Actor (Jack Nicholson), and Best Writing from another Medium and received six more nominations.


Originally released on November 23, 1983, the enduring classic follows the ups and downs of a mother-daughter relationship with honesty, heart, and humor.





EXTRAS

Brand-new Filmmaker Focus” with writer/producer/director James L. Brooks. In this newly recorded interview, Brooks reflects on the challenges and excitement that came with being a first-time director, including getting directing critiques from Jack Nicholson. He also discusses the casting process and the film’s amazing performances.


Plus, a commentary with Brooks, co-producer Penney Finkelman Cox, and production designer Polly Platt.




SPECS

Video – A new 4K scan of the original camera negative (1.85:1 aspect ratio) supervised by Brooks and more likely will feature HDR10 and Dolby Vision grading.


Audio – No details were provided, but the previous Blu-ray included a 5.1 DTS-HD Master soundtrack.
