Sound off with your picks!
THE LIST, in alphabetical order, features the very best in 4K viewing from a physical disc. The criteria required the source to be mastered in 4K or higher and nothing less.
No upconversion from 2K to 4K on this list. Continuing from last year, most of the top 4K discs were originally captured on 35mm film stock.
When we post the final list, over 100 HDR screenshots will be included with mini-reviews of the Top 10 picks.

Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Seven, and Amadeus were three favorites this year. Also loved finally getting Boogie Nights, Master & Commander, Spotlight, and Second Sight’s The Nice Guys… but the first two weren’t too pretty & the second two are upscales/digital.
Some interesting titles, but sure would like to see others that have never been released before make the list IE; "Das Feuereschiff" ("The lightship"), a 1963 German Award Winner with an international cast, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author. So why ignored?
This film also screened on US TV under the English title: "Crime On The High Seas" It was released by Columbia Pictures on 35mm and 16mm.
Columbia also released: "As The Sea Rages" (1960) with Cliff Robertson, Maria Schell, and Cameron Mitchel, also released on 35mm and 16mm. This title also has never had a DVD release. While titles that have always had several releases are interesting, new, ignored titles would certainly be appreciated.
No doubt in my mind the best 4k release…movie, picture, and sound was The Sound of Music. High Society might be second, and beats all but Music in picture quality….but is a terrible movie. The newest Mission Impossible gets rave reviews from many, but I have not seen the home version. It was the only film in the excellent series I had no desire to see again.
