Click for Amazon pre-orders: “The Sting” (1973) and “National Lampoon’s Animal House” (1978)
UNIVERSAL PICTURES Home Entertainment will release two 1970s classics from the studio’s original cherry-picked 100th Anniversary series onto 4K Ultra HD on May 18.
A decade ago when Universal was preparing for its 100th celebration the studio scanned the original camera negatives in 4K, with “The Sting” (1973) seven Academy Award winner including Best Picture and “National Lampoon’s Animal House” (1978), to ensure the film’s lasting preservation.
The 4K masters are the basis for the upcoming presentation, which includes HDR10 toning and both are coded onto 100-gigabit discs.
"The Sting" was a rarity in Hollywood, winning over critics and moviegoers who flocked by the millions to see the hottest duo Paul Newman and Robert Redford, as 1930s Chicago con-artists.
“National Lampoon’s Animal House” starred comedy legend John Belushi as Delta House fraternity brother John “Bluto” Blutarsky, that features the ultimate food fight and toga party.

i MIGHT re-BUY "ANIMAL HOUSE" ONCE AGAIN SINCE IT IS IN DTS:X BUT DEPENDS ON REVIEWS AS HOW THE NEW SOUND SOUNDS - AND WOULD HAVE re-BOUGHT "THE STING" BUT STILL IN 5.1; IF STING WAS IN ATMOS OR DTS:X, THEN I WOULD HAVE REBOUGHT IT AGAIN. I ALREADY HAVE COPIES OF BOTH THESE MOVIES ON: LASERDISC, DVD, BLURAY. NOT ON 4K YET.
