SONY PICTURES Home Entertainment is releasing Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Anniversary Steelbook’s of Best Picture Oscar winners “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962) and “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957) on June 7.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of “Lawrence of Arabia,” David Lean’s classic won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture of 1962, and stands as one of the most timeless and essential motion picture masterpieces. The film stars Peter O’Toole in his career-making performance as T.E. Lawrence, the audacious World War I British army officer who heroically united rival Arab desert tribes and led them to war against the mighty Turkish Empire.
Celebrating the 65th anniversary of Lean’s World War II epic “The Bridge on the River Kwai,” which follows British POWs who build a vital Japanese railway bridge in enemy-occupied Burma. Allied commandos are assigned to destroy the bridge with William Holden as Shears, an American who escape the prison and returns for the explosive ending. It also won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Alec Guinness), and Best Director. Even its theme song, an old WWII whistling tune, the Colonel Bogey March, became a massive hit.
