UNIVERSAL PICTURES Home Entertainment will release Quentin Tarantino’s second film to make the jump to the high-resolution 4K format – with his high-octane World War II adventure “Inglourious Basterds” on October 12.
It is the first year of Germany’s occupation of France. Allied officer Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) assembles a team of Jewish soldiers to commit violent acts of retribution against the Nazis, including the taking of their scalps. He and his men join forces with Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger), a German actress and undercover agent, to bring down the leaders of the Third Reich. Their fates converge with theater owner Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent), who seeks to avenge the Nazis' execution of her family.
The film received eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Directing, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Christoph Waltz winning Best Supporting Actor as German Officer Col. Hans Landa.

Video: Captured on 35mm film (2.39:1 aspect ratio) it was mastered in 2K in 2009, so we’re not sure if it got a new 4K scan. HDR10 grading is standard, but no info if Dolby Vision or DHR10+ was added.
Audio: No audio details were provided, but the original Blu-ray was coded with six-channel English DTS-HD MA and DTS six-channel Spanish and French.
