Denis Villeneuve’s highly praised “Dune” comes to 4K Ultra HD (digital) Dec. 3 and (disc) Jan. 11

WARNER BROS. Home Entertainment launches Denis Villeneuve’s (“Arrival,” “Blade Runner 2049”) highly praised sci-fi spectacle “Dune” onto 4K Ultra HD (digital) on December 3, while 4K disc lovers will have to wait until January 11.

“Dune’s” worldwide box office topped over $350 million during the pandemic, based on Frank Herbert’s novel. Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet's exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their own fear will survive.

Co-stars include Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, and Zendaya as Chani.

Video – The footage was captured on IMAX digital (1.90:1 aspect ratio) and 4.5K ARRIRAW cameras (2.39:1), and mastered in 4K. Dolby Vision details weren't provided on the press release, but the Best Buy Steelbook promo photograph shows the Dolby Vision symbol on the disc. Also, no information on whether varying aspect ratios will be provided between the IMAX scenes and the others.
